Contemplations by the River.

Contemplations by the River this morning.

Watching the river flow this morning, I put my hand in the cool water and felt my mind transcended to another place and time. Then, I was transported back to the present moment. My body felt engulfed in the beauty and stillness around me and reminded me that there is nowhere to go but I had a nudge that I needed to get going with my day.

Why are we always on our way somewhere?

Where do we need to go?

Where should we be right now?

What should we be doing?

Being in nature, listening to the flow of the water reminded me that we live in such contradiction. We are human beings and not human doings and yet we often spend only a fraction of time 'being' and a lot more time off 'doing' or looking for something to do or thinking about what we should be doing. Being near the water this morning reminded me to stop the doing. "There's no where to go, Dee. Just sit here and BE with me." I heard the water speak this to me. It was kinda magical and took my breath away.

Water is so calming, uplifting, and inspiring all at once. When I visit the water, I get all kinds of ideas. My brain goes into overdrive about something I could create, a travel experience I can plan, or some way to inspire others by sharing a picture with a message like how I often post to Instagram. Those are the best ones! I feel that nature talks to me in the form of inspirations to share with the world. Being near water helps me return to my flow but today, I felt something different. I heard the water whisper to me and I am not sure I ever listened before. It actually felt more like a shout. STOP, Dee. I was so grateful that I was able to hear because these messages come to me ALL the time but I often, out of habit, ignore or dismiss them if they don't make sense, if it would disrupt a previous idea I had about how the day would go, etc. Sometimes we can get big messages through what appears to be a whisper like 'quit your job,' or 'let that shit go,' or 'say no to that invite' but our logical mind kicks in quickly changes the script. I was so grateful that I listened to the water's prompting this morning.

Back into the present moment, I began watching the beautiful swallow birds flutter by and dip the tip of their wings on the edge of the water. A Cormorant bird popped up out of the water and then disappeared again. I love the adventures along the river! During last night's monthly New Moon walk, we watched a family of ducks cruise by. A few of the baby ducks looked like they were walking on water to catch up to their paddling. We all giggled. Along the shore line there were a bunch of beavers, about 4 or 5 of them, loving on each other. I felt such peace and connection in that moment, and again this morning at the shoreline. I could only hope such feelings could last forever but it was a little after 8:00am, my belly was grumbling and there it is. I was off again being a human doing.

I will leave you with an excerpt from Animal Speak by Ted Andrews which was inspired by our beaver sighting. It is a perfect message as we are still in the window of the new moon energies which represents new beginnings, fresh starts and a time to set intentions for the future. "Beaver represents 'the building of dreams'. Beavers are adapted for life in the water. Water has long been associated with emotions and dreams, and one of the most common dreams the average person has is to have a home and a family. This dream is embodied by the beaver. It live in close-knit families and will mate for as long as both are alive. If beaver has appeared in your life, it can reflect the opportunity to build upon your dreams." Aho. And So It Is.

Until next time.

Aloha~
